CALANGUTE: The Calangute Police arrested one Elias Kanchan, a 21-year-old native of West Bengal, with charas in a narcotic raid carried out at Calangute car park in the wee hours of Sunday.
Calangute PI Jivba Dalvi informed that he received information that the accused would come to Calangute park area with some drugs for delivery to prospective customers.
Accordingly, a team was formed consisting of PSI Prajit Mandrekar and other staff, which waited in the parking area in civil clothes. On seeing the accused coming to the spot, the police immediately rounded him up and detained him.
During the personal search, the accused was found in possession of charas worth Rs 60,000 in international market.
The accused was brought to the police station and placed under arrest. An offence under section 20(b)(ii)(A) of NDPS Act, 1985 has been registered.
