SANGUEM: After three years of laying the foundation stone in the year 2019 for the Solid Waste Treatment Plant at Cacora, Curchorem, the plant is finally ready and all set to be inaugurated on the Goa Statehood Day on May 30.

PWD Minister Nilesh Cabral, who had been on a visit to the Cacora plant to oversee the functioning during its wet garbage trial run on Saturday, said that the plant has been possible only because of strenuous efforts and idea put forward by the former Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
“The Solid Waste Treatment Plant at Cacora which has a capacity of disposal of 100 tonnes of waste per day on the similar lines to that of Saligao Waste Treatment Plant will be dedicated to our former Chief Minister Late Manohar Parrikar” he said.
Notwithstanding the initial opposition for the plant from a section of the people, the government continued with the construction of the plant.
Cabral said that the plant will handle the total process of garbage disposal which includes getting of the finished product from the garbage with no waste of whatsoever nature being transported elsewhere for processing.
“The garbage treatment plant at Cacora and Saligao are looked as model garbage disposal products for other States to follow just like the sewerage plants in the State which are now adopted by several other States after being installed in Goa”, he added.
