OLD GOA: Stressing on the need for a garbage treatment plant, PWD Minister Sudin Dhavlikar on Monday pleaded with Goans to be more accommodating towards the proposed Bainguinim garbage treatment plant and said he was willing to speak to religious leaders in Old Goa on this issue.
“I feel that there should be less opposition to the plant in future with a compromise factor from everyone, as one should think how we can get a good garbage treatment plant,” he said.
“The plant has to be set up somewhere or the other, and if no one wants a plant at Bainguinim, then we have to see an alternate site to set up the plant,” the PWD Minister added.
“We will speak to Mutt Swamiji, Old Goa priests and then meet Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar and after that, MGP will once again take a decision on whether to oppose the proposed Bainguinim plant or not.”
“Earlier, there was lot of opposition to the garbage treatment plant at Bainguinim and even MGP was part of it, as at that time we were unaware what type of garbage treatment plant was coming up at Bainguinim,” Dhavlikar said.
“But the method adopted is German technology and if this is the case, then everyone has to do a rethink, as we need a garbage treatment plant in the State,” he added.
