MARGAO: Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro who was specially invited for the Navelim Gram Sabha shared his dream for the village with those present and asked for their support and cooperation in making Navelim the No 1 constituency and also slammed the government for putting the liquor vendors in a mess.
He lamented that ‘right to health’ has not become a right in the country as yet like right to information and others. However, he would strive to make it a right in Navelim panchayat and urged the panchayat to support him in this endeavour. Setting up a green Navelim, is another dream of his, he said and recalled how earlier he had trained farmers in the constituency who were now growing and selling local vegetables. He said Central and local government funds would be utilized to promote agriculture not only as a means of earning extra money but as a passion.
Having garbage free Navelim, he said, is yet another target of his along with reducing unemployment in the village and constituency.
Luizinho lambasted the government over the plight of the liquor vendors in Goa and pointed out that while the Goa government ignored pleas to file a review petition before the Supreme Court, States like Sikkim and Meghalaya that moved such petitions were provided relief.
He urged the villagers to adopt a resolution urging the State government to move a review petition before the Supreme Court and also to denotify all the Major District Roads that have since been upgraded as National Highways.
He also urged the villagers to adopt a resolution urging the government to promulgate an ordinance giving relief to the affected vendors as alcohol comes in the concurrent list and the State government has the powers to do so.
Luizinho also suggested that the gram sabha resolve to denationalize the rivers in Goa and warned that if this is not done, Central government permission will be required for any work including minor ones to be done in the rivers.
