Man drowns, body missing
POINGUINIM (HC): A 21-year-old man from Nagarcem-Canacona was reported to have drowned in the Arabian Sea at Palolem beach on Sunday afternoon.
According to sources, the incident occurred when Atish Anand Naik had gone for a swim in the sea, where strong currents pulled him.
Onlookers called Canacona police who along with the Fire Brigade personnel efforts to trace Naik proved futile till late Sunday.
Atish was the only son of Anand, who is a businessman having his hotel enterprise at Canacona.
PERNEM (HC): A 14-year-old boy was reported to have drowned at Arambol beach on Sunday.
According to reports, Rahul Morajkar along with his relatives had gone for a picnic. Since Rahul, who had gone for a swim in the sweet water lake, did not return, the relatives filed a missing complaint with the police.
Pernem police along with Fire Brigade personnel were pressed into service to trace the body, but were unable to trace it till late Sunday.
