The Airport Authority of India should review the existing pick up and drop time at Dabolim airport, in a bid to decongest the departure and arrival lanes.
Surprisingly, the time limit is made applicable to private cars only. And it is seen that tourist taxis and a large number of yellow taxi cabs are haphazardly and often double-parked in these lanes, obstructing smooth movement of traffic, thereby subsequently penalising private car owners for no fault of theirs, when they cross the stipulated time llimit.
The free time of five minutes is grossly inadequate and does need to be changed to minimum 10 minutes.
Besides, the entry of yellow taxi cabs to pick up customers should be regulated to ensure that no more than a specific number of cabs are queued up in front of arrival gate.
Why should all taxis be exempt from being charged beyond free time. If the honest intention is to decongest the area, this solution is inevitable.
