PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Wednesday said that the bomb-making equipment was found in a house at Anjuna where terror suspect Yasin Bhatkal resided in 2011-12.
“National Investigating Agency during search of the house had found many things which also included bomb-making equipment,” Parrikar told reporters when asked about Bhatkal.
NIA team along with Bhatkal visited Goa last week to probe his links in the coastal State.
Parrikar conceded that the State is being used as a hide out by the criminals, who live here for “cooling period” after committing crimes. “We have noticed that many wanted people from other parts of the country are staying in Goa during cool off period,” he said.
Chief Minister said that people should not be carried away by easy money. People need to be smart and careful while renting their houses or while employing them for household work. Identity proof should be taken and sent to police for verification,” he advised. “Government cannot be blamed for everything…public too need to be cautious,” he added.
The role of the house owner, who had rented his house to Bhatkal, has come under scanner as the mandatory C form which was supposed to be submitted to the police, when one rents out the place does not have the name of Bhatkal on it. “C form was not submitted,” Parrikar said.
