VASCO: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has stated that he gets upset when he comes across incidences of people in Goa trying to disrupt communal harmony. He said that such acts were incorrect and urged people not to fall prey to the same.
Parsekar was speaking to reporters after launching the first fast patrol vessel ‘MCGS VICTORY’ designed and built by Goa Shipyard Limited for the Mauritius Coast Guard at GSL on Monday.
“I don’t want to make references to any political party or individual. However, it is a fact that I get upset with I come across instances where people twist issues and take the same towards communal disharmony, which is incorrect. I request the people not to fall prey to such attempts,” he said.
Meanwhile, Parsekar’s wife Smita Parsekar launched the first fast patrol vessel Mauritius Coast Guard Ship (MCGS) ‘VICTORY’ at GSL on Monday.
While addressing the gathering, CM Parsekar lauded the excellent work being done in the shipyard and complemented CMD GSL and his team for the spectacular turnaround achieved in last two years. He added that the award of Rs 32,000 crore for 12 mine countermeasures vessels (MCMV) or minesweepers would minimize the impact of mining restrictions and would boost the state’s economy by creating more job opportunities for the locals and setting up ancillary units.
Mauritian High Commissioner, Jagdishwar Goburdhan, highlighted the role of the vessels, being built at GSL, in safeguarding their vast maritime zone and stated that based on the high professional capability and track record of GSL, the Government of Mauritius was confident of getting these high quality ships within contractual delivery time.
