PANJIM: Union Fisheries Minister Giriraj Singh on Saturday stated that Centre has granted Rs 300 crore to Goa as against the demand for Rs 100 crore for 60th Liberation Day celebrations. This, he said, will make Goa Atmanirbhar.
The Union Fisheries Minister slammed the ‘tukde tukde’ gang for defaming the Narendra Modi government.

Addressing a press conference, during his visit to State, at party head office, here, Singh also hailed the Union Budget as it has not increased tax on the people.
“The Budget is of Atmanirbhar Bharat,” the Union Minister added.
“The leftists and ‘tukde-tukde’ gang are defaming achievements of the Union government in the farming sector. I want to emphasise that the Budget for Agriculture has given ample opportunities for this sector’s growth,” he said.
He stated the Centre has increased the Budget on Agriculture by 438 per cent compared to that of the UPA-led government, in the past.
“The Union Budget for Agriculture was Rs 88,811 crore between 2009 and 2014 which was increased to Rs 4,87,238 crore between 2014 and 2020 registering a growth of 438 per cent. The Agriculture credit during 2013-14 was Rs 7 lakh crore which has gone up to Rs 16.5 lakh crore during 2021-22 reporting increase of 135 per cent,” he added indicating government’s attempt to boost the sector Pan India.
Singh further pointed out that around 106 lakh farmers benefitted with the Direct Bank Transfer (DBT) of Rs 6,000 each under the present government.
He also added that the Union Budget presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has not increased tax. Commenting on the fuel prices, he stated that Centre has reduced Excise duty on petrol and diesel and decided to impose cess, which will not burden anyone.
Meanwhile, after his arrival to Goa on Friday, Singh met his ministerial colleague Shripad Naik, who is recuperating at Goa Medical College and Hospital, following a horrific accident at Ankola, on January 11.
