PANJIM: Goa recorded its season’s wettest day on Tuesday with 4.75 inches of rainfall being received for the day, with State reporting 22 per cent surplus rains so far.
The State was on red alert for Monday and Tuesday, during, these 48 hours, a total of 6.10 inches of rains (155mm) was recorded.

As per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Goa Observatory in-charge Rahul, June 15 is the wettest day of the season so far with 4.75 inches (120.8mm) of rainfall.
June 10, with 2.33 inches of rains (59.3mm) is the second wettest of the season so far.
Since June 1 till date, the State has recorded 16.93 inches (430.1mm) of rain as against the normal average of 13.12 inches (353.6mm).
The Pernem station recorded the highest 7.08 inches of rainfall, followed by Margao (6.19 inches) and Sanquelim (5.51 inches). Canacona received the lowest 3.1 inches of rainfall.
The three weather systems- Low Pressure Area over south Jharkhand & neighbourhood, off shore trough at mean sea level from south Maharashtra coast to north Kerala coast and a trough running from Eastcentral Arabian Sea to south Konkan at 5.8 km above mean sea level, helped enhance rainfall activity over the coast.
The IMD has removed red alert warning for Goa from June 15 evening onwards and has now put the State on orange colour warning with possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall.
The strong wind currents are likely to prevail over the State till June 19 and hence the fishermen are advised against venturing into sea during the period.
The IMD has said that the rainfall activities are likely to reduce slightly from Thursday, June 17 onwards.
