PONDA: Hemant Jaiswal won the chess tournament organised by Lions Club of Ponda and Lions Club of Ponda City in association with Ponda Taluka Chess Association (PTCA). A total of 24 participants from Matruchhaya’s Bal Kalyan Ashram played in this tournament which was a club twinning programme.
Darshan Mudangi, Prathik Satarkar, Praveen Desai and Shripat Gadvi secured the second to fifth places respectively.

The prizes were distributed by Sushma Vengurlekar (Region Chairperson), Sunita Parsekar (Zone Chairperson), Mahesh Gaitonde (District Chairperson), Ramkrishna Naik (President, Lions Club of Ponda), Uma Gaitonde (President, Lions Club of Ponda City), Sagar Sakordekar (PTCA President), Amogh Namshikar (Chief Arbiter), Diwakar Shinkre and Anand Kurtikar.
