Tiatr director gets yet another ‘akantvadi’ call

MARGAO:  Telephonic threats have not stopped coming for beleaguered director of Akantvadi Goean Naka (Don’t want terrorists in Goa) tiatr Tousif de Navelim as he received a fresh threat – this time from a caller from Bangalore who has threatened to reach his residence at Navelim on early Monday morning with a group.

The caller, who identified himself as Vishal, is believed to have abused Tousif for the release of the controversial tiatr and  questioned him over the tiatr on the Ram Sene chief Pramod Muthalik.

Tousif, who has lodged a formal complaint with the Margao police told Herald that the caller threatened to reach his house with a group to teach him a lesson.

The fresh threat has come at a time when Tousif was preparing to hold as many as three shows on August 17 at Margao, Vasco and Sanvordem. “I will go ahead with the shows planned on August 17 notwithstanding the threatening calls”, he told Herald.

The Margao police has stationed  vehicles with police near his residence at Navelim for round the clock protection. 

Margao Police Inspector Sudesh Naik informed that the police has registered two non-cognizable cases against the unidentified callers based on Tousif’s complaints dated August 7 and August 10. 

He said though the police has registered non cognisable offense, the police are investigating to find out the callers who had allegedly issued threats to the tiatr director. “The Margao police has called three persons who had called up Tousif on August 7 over the release of the tiatr. Their interrogation will unearth more facts relating to the case”, he said.

Sources at the police station said one of the callers told the Margao police that they got the telephone number of the tiatr director based on a report published in a vernacular daily. The tiatr director has lodged a complaint with the Margao police against the vernacular daily.
