Shantaram appeals to youth to track down bogus sadhus, babas

PANJIM, MARCH 21 Member of Parliament Shantaram Naik appealed to the youth of Goa to track down bogus and fake 'Sadhus' and 'Babas' with criminal records operating in Goa, in the interest of the people of the State, specially common masses.

Member of Parliament Shantaram Naik appealed to the youth of Goa to track down bogus and fake ‘Sadhus’ and ‘Babas’ with criminal records operating in Goa, in the interest of the people of the State, specially common masses.
Naik, who was speaking as a Chief Guest at the Award Distribution Ceremony of Nehur Yuva Kendr, North Goa, held at Panjim on Saturday, further said that Goa has become a fertile land for such criminal elements to operate in the guise of ‘Sadhus’ and ‘Babas’ who misguide the visitors and dupe them of funds on one pretext or the other.
Naik said that one of the fundamental duties enshrined in the Constitution says that, “It shall be the duty of every citizen of India to develop the scientific temper, humanism and spirit of enquiry and reforms”.
Naik said that several politicians irrespective of political affiliations visit such people in the hope of finding solutions to their political problems. He appealed to all the political leaders to refrain themselves from undertaking such visits in the interest of the state and its people.
Naik said that country is full of such frauds who have been caught in the past, red-handed, and, in the recent times on videos.
Naik further said that youth have to take interest in the elections to the local bodies for, it is at the level of Panchayat and Municipal bodies,  that leadership qualities get developed.
Raju Nayak, Editor of Lokmat, who was the special invitee, equally focused the menace of bogus Sadhus and Babas who are even seen moving, he said, around the streets of Goa, hunting for their prey.
Nayak appreciated the efforts of Nehru Yuvak Kendra, North Goa specially their District Youth Coordinator K K Ghatwal.
Earlier, awards were given to various groups who under took adventurous activities on behalf of Kendra.
