PANJIM: Acting promptly on its proposal to ensure clean beaches, Tourism Department has launched a WhatsApp number for the people to report about garbage menace on beaches.
The WhatsApp number will be managed by Drishti Lifesaving Services Pvt Ltd that is currently handling the beach cleaning management on a temporary basis. “All of us can now do our part to keep the beaches of Goa clean. The general public can inform Drishti on 9225580100 via a WhatsApp message about garbage strewn on the beach by sending a picture followed by a text stating the location, and additionally sending across the WhatsApp location which is accurate up to a radius of 10 meters from where the garbage is spotted,” a statement issued by the agency said. Action will be taken within 24 hours.
