PONDA: Ponda Bock Development Officer (BDO) on Tuesday directed the Borim panchayat secretary to ask the panchayat clerk to issue documents sought by residents under RTI in the absence of panchayat secretary.
The BDO passed the order following a first appeal filed against the Borim secretary by a resident claiming that the secretary was reluctant to provide information sought under RTI.
In the first appeal, Sanjay Borkar requested the Ponda BDO to direct the Borim panchayat secretary to provide the documents sought under RTI.
Borkar claimed that he made several visits to the panchayat office, however in the absence of the panchayat secretary, the staff were reluctant to provide him the documents. Later, Borkar filed first appeal before Ponda BDO.
According to information, the secretary in his defense claimed that he holds the additional charge of Panchawadi Panchayat, due to which he is not available at Borim Panchayat for three days in a week.
BDO P K Naik in his order stated, “Order is passed to give necessary documents after taking necessary fees from the appellant. Henceforth, the panchayat secretary has been directed to give advice to his panchayat clerk in absence of the secretary to issue necessary documents sought under RTI to the applicant on time.”
