Tragic Discovery at Eden Gardens: 21-Year-Old’s Body Found Hanging, Prompting Mental Health Concerns

The lifeless body of 21-year-old Dhananjay Barik was discovered hanging from the upper tier of gallery-K at Eden Gardens. Barik, identified as the son of a ground worker, had been missing since Sunday afternoon, and his body was found by a stadium caretaker. A senior officer revealed that the youth, potentially grappling with depression, had been seeking employment as a ground staff at Eden Gardens, much like his father and uncle who are employed there. Investigations are ongoing to determine whether it is a case of suicide or other circumstances, with the body sent for post-mortem examination.

Barik’s family members had filed a missing complaint with the Maidan police station on Sunday. The young man had been residing with his father and uncle in quarters designated for Eden Gardens’ staff. The incident raises concerns about the mental health challenges faced by individuals, shedding light on the pressure and expectations associated with familial employment ties and the impact on one’s well-being.
