CANACONA: Three more persons were arrested on Friday evening in Panjim in connection with the seizure of Rs 1.48 crore of demonetised currency which was recovered from the luggage compartment of a car on Thursday evening at Polem check post.
Police identified the arrested as Francis Fernandes (40) who is running a car rental business and a resident of Candolim, Melvin Lobo (39) running an event management company also from Candolim and Sanjay Khandeparkar (38) a labour contractor from Bicholim.
It may be recalled that Canacona police on Thursday had apprehended five residents of Karasagod, Kerala at the Polem border check post who were caught red handed carrying demonetised notes of Rs 1,000 amounting to Rs 1.48 crore.
