PORVORIM: Aggrieved teachers and other staff on Thursday took Bardez Mamlatdar Laxmikant Kuttikar to task over the logic for “forcing” them to do the house-to-house survey of COVID-19.

At the training for conducting house-to-house survey, organised at SCERT on Thursday, the teachers sought to know the logic behind the survey. They contended that 7000 staff would likely be exposed to coronavirus during the survey.
“If the people are reluctant to tell about their medical conditions to doctors and the police, how the government expects us to get that information from them?” a trainee asked.
“There is no logic behind this move. If we go around searching for the possible coronavirus positive persons there is always the likelihood that even we might get infected,” a trainee said adding, “By this survey, how are we going to stop more patients from becoming coronavirus infected? There is always a chance that this survey would add to the already existing cases.”
Some teachers sought to know as to how they are going to travel when there is no transport. “We don’t know to ride bikes; we use public transport. How are we going to travel to Porvorim, Aldona, Tivim and other places?” another teacher questioned. Realising that he had no answers to all their queries, the mamlatdar said that he would forward all their queries to the higher authorities.
The trainees were so upset with the government for “deliberately” endangering their lives that they threatened to vote against the BJP during the upcoming elections.
