The Education Department wants to fill in 88 leave vacancies for teaching staff through walk-in-interviews. After the Department realised that the centralised acceptance of applications at the Education Department Office at Porvorim would create chaos, they took the advice of the Chief Minister and decided to accept applications at taluka level. All the candidates have been urged to hand over their duly filled applications at their respective taluka offices of Assistant Director of Education (ADEI) or the offices that have been decided for the purpose. The candidates will have to go through a skill test before they are hired for the vacancy.

“We have a shortage of teachers at present and an attempt is being made to fill in the leave vacancies. The process for recruitment of 142 teachers on regular basis is also underway and is expected to be completed within the next three months,” Director of Education Shailesh Zingde said.

“These are purely leave vacancies but then salaries are high and  applicants who are already working on contract basis are requested to refrain before applying here and quitting their present assignment as they may have to leave soon after the end of the leave vacancy,” Zingde said.

According to Zingde, these posts are exclusively for the D Ed (Diploma in Education) and DElEd (Diploma in Elementary Education) applicants. He has underlined the fact that these posts are not for BEd (Bachelor in Education) applicants. In addition to mandatory birth, residence and educational qualification certificates, the candidates with Teachers Eligibility Test and those who possess experience of teaching will be given weightage.
