Vasco police on Friday booked an offence against about 35 BJP workers, including former Vasco MLA Rajendra Arlekar, on charges of unlawful assembly and wrongful restraining in the port town.
Arlekar along with BJP workers on Friday blocked the highway, near Roy Petrol pump, leading to the port town and planted saplings in the potholes to mark their protest. The traffic came to a standstill for nearly an hour.
PSI Virendra Veluskar, who is state complainant in the case, and Vasco police have registered an offense against about 35 BJP workers, including Arlekar and Mormugao Municipal Council Councilor Krishna (Daji) Salkar and one former MMC chairperson under Section 143, 341 r/w 149 IPC.
