Boy succumbs to ratol, lover battling for life

The minor boy from Loutolim, who had consumed ratol poison last week has expired at the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim on Wednesday, even as a minor rape victim was rushed to Hospicio hospital after consuming ratol poison today.
Maina Curtorim Police station incharge, PI Sidhant Shirodkar informed that minor boy breathed his last at the GMC hospital on Wednesday. He said the minor girl, who had also consumed ratol along with the boy last week, is still battling for life in the hospital.
Both the boy and the girl hail from Loutolim village and had consumed ratol – as per the statement recorded by the Special Judicial Magistrate S B Faria — since their parents were not in favour of their relationship.
The Maina Curtorim police have already registered a case of attempt to commit suicide against the boy and girl.
Meanwhile, PI Shirodkar stated that a minor rape victim girl from Curtorim was rushed to Hospicio after she consumed the deadly ratol poison.
He said the hospital doctors are monitoring the condition of the victim girl, who had complained of rape, a week ago.
The police are investigating.
