PANJIM: The Public Works Department (PWD) on Monday appointed IIT-Roorkee as an independent agency to carry out detailed investigation of the Kala Academy stage roof collapse incident and also to ascertain the exact cause of incident on an immediate basis.
The contractor M/s Techton Builders Pvt Ltd has also been directed to submit detailed explanation on the incident by Tuesday and also obtain independent report from IIT-Mumbai, who carried out structural stability of the Kala Academy on “an immediate basis.”

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel has asked the PWD Principal Chief Engineer Uttam Parsekar to investigate the incident and submit a preliminary inquiry report regarding the collapse. He has been asked to seek explanation from the contractor who is currently executing the refurbishment/renovation works of Kala Academy and to appoint an independent agency viz, IIT Roorkee or any other IIT/NIT to ascertain the cause and to submit compliance by Tuesday.
