MAPUSA: Saligao Sporting Club proved to be too good as they drubbed Goan Warriors Sports Club by 5-1 margin to enter the final of Anjuna Gymkhana Cup 2019 organised by Anjuna Gymkhana at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, on Saturday. It was Goan Warriors that stunned their opponents with a 10th minute goal. A defensive error inside the penalty box saw Prajot Arabekar who was lurking nearby tap the ball into the back of the net, 1-0.
On resumption of play, Saligao colts were a complete transformed unit where they not only levelled terms in the 46th minute, but hammered in four more goals.
Jason Monteiro headed the ball into the net to make it 1-1, while two minutes later Blaize D’Cruz strike beat the rival keeper to make it 2-1. In the 54th minute, Saligao SC increased the lead when Jason again scored from his individual brilliancy, 3-1.
As the match progressed, Saligao SC scored two quick goals in the 65th and 68th minutes. Michael Dias dribbling past three Goan Warriors players placed the ball into the net to make it 4-1. Jason netted his third goal to complete the rout, 5-1.
