MARGAO: The Fatorda Youth Association (FYA) has opposed the Fatorda lake project and the shifting of the Margao bus stand in the paddy fields.
The Association has also raised its objection to a restaurant opposite the new district Collectorate building, saying there are no adequate parking arrangements, with customers parking their vehicles on the busy road.
Addressing the media, Association President Florino Miranda said that Parrikar government should protect the existing fields and not destroy them with projects such as the Margao bus stand and the Fatorda lake project. “These fields belong to Goan farmers. If the government is really interested in a lake project, let it come on the near two lakh sq mts of acquired land at Colva”, he said.
Association cultural secretary Custodio Dias warned the government that farmers of Fatorda would not remain silent if their fields are taken over for the lake project and to house the Margao bus stand.
Meanwhile, the Association has threatened to approach the court if MMC fails to revoke the license issue the restaurant opposite the new Collectorate building within 15 days.
