MARGAO: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday said since the COVID-19 vaccination programme for healthcare workers was fixed well in advance, the Opinion Poll Day celebration could not be held and added that the IFFI inauguration was also held on the same day.
“Health is a priority and that’s the reason Goa Government couldn’t hold the Opinion Poll Day celebration. However, next year there will be a celebration,” the Chief Minister said.

Sawant said, “The Swami Vivekananda Centre, which will start functioning from Ravindra Bhavan, Margao, will hold programmes throughout the year. The programme will be centred on the teachings of the great leader.”
He visited the house of late Subrai Naik at Damodar Sal, Comba-Margao, where Swami Vivekananda once stayed 130 years ago and extended government support to the family to keep the place open for public.
Yuva Saptah in the memory of Swami Vivekananda was observed from January 12 to 18.
Sawant congratulated the Naik family for maintaining the sanctity and importance of the place for the last 130 years.
“According to the youth policy, various programmes will be held to commemorate the Yuva Saptah. We will also start the Swami Vivekananda Centre in Ravindra Bhavan, Margao,” he added.
