MAPUSA: Shifting the onus on people opposing the garbage treatment plant at Baiguinim in finding an alternative solution, Minister for Waste Management Michael Lobo has asserted that the government would go ahead with the project.
“Baiguinim garbage plant is being monitored by the High Court and NGT; every two months, we file a status report. Baiguinim plant will solve garbage problem of entire Tiswadi and the government is right on track,” Lobo said.
Challenging the people opposing the plant at Baiguinim to explain how and where they are going to dispose the waste, Lobo slammed them saying, “Some sections of the people are opposing this project, but they are the people generating garbage. If they are opposing the project at Baiguinim, then they should give an alternative solution to Goa Waste management Corporation (GWMC) to dispose the garbage in scientific manner. If the people give us an alternate land, then, we will build this project at the alternative spot.”
“People will oppose; they will keep opposing. India is democratic country where everyone has right to speech,” Lobo said
