MAPUSA: Vagator-Caisua Taxi Owners Association confronted Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant during his visit to Siolim Constituency, on Tuesday.

The Association also handed over a memorandum to the Chief Minister demanding relaxation in the fitment of digital fare meters and renewal of all the fitness permits respectively.
They also demanded to scrap the app-based taxi.
The taxi owners association claimed that already due to COVID-19 pandemic, the taxi business is already affected and at this movement, fitment of digital fare meters has made the situation more difficult. Also the app-based taxi operation (GoaMiles) is also not a good idea in the tourism-oriented State of Goa.
Responding to the Association, the Chief Minister said, “The State government will systematically arrive at the right decision over the taxi owners issue by Ganesh Chaturthi and we will come up with the best solution.”
“All taxi owners are our Goan brothers. Since it is a legal dispute, the High Court matter talks are on with Advocate General (AG), Director of Transport etc. I can assure that while taking the decision, the taxi owners will be taken into confidence,” he added.
