VASCO: The Kadamba Transport Corporation Ltd Chairman Carlos Almeida has urged the State health minister to install thermal scanning facilities at major bus stands in the State to prevent spread of coronavirus in Goa.

Almeida said that he would write to the railway authorities requesting them to install scanning facility at the Vasco railway station through which thousands people arrive in Goa daily.
Alemida was speaking at a drive to prevent the spread of coronavirus at the KTC bus stand in Vasco, on Saturday.
“Being mindful of the dangers of coronavirus, we have taken up the task of disinfecting the bus stand at Vasco and other major bus stands in the State,” he said.
Almeida appreciated Health Minister Vishwajit Rane for being “proactive” and “taking swift” action to stop the spread of coronavirus in Goa.
“Preventive measures are being put in place at Dabolim airport. On similar lines, I will be writing it to the health minister and will also meet him with a request to install thermal scanners at the major bus stands in the State and also at the Vasco railway station,” he said.
When asked how the KTC would to prevent the spread of the deadly virus, Vasco KTC depot General Manager Sanjay Ghate said, “There are 16 control points, of which nine are in North Goa and seven are in South Goa. Trainings and instructions have been given to the Kadamba drivers and conductors regarding preventive measures of coronavirus.”
Ghate informed that scanners would be set up at four major bus stands and scanning of the interstate buses, especially the ones plying to Pune and Bangalore, would be done to avoid spread of this virus.
“And internally, we are disinfecting all our buses,” Ghate said.
