PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Thursday demanded new PDAs for Ponda and Pernem constituencies.
According to the MGP, creating separate PDAs for Pernem and Ponda will help the overall development as both these are growing fast.
Speaking to Herald, MGP General Secretary Lavoo Mamledar said, “Our central committee will soon be holding a meeting and after that we will officially demand new PDAs for Ponda and Pernem with the membership given to our central committee members.”
He added, “Ponda and Pernem are like Taleigao. Both the places are growing fast and PDAs at these places will give them the required boost and new development. Also, with the Mopa International Airport coming up, a new PDA will help Pernem to develop further.”
A MGP central committee member said, “The formation of additional PDAs will make the RP redundant as currently unplanned development was mushrooming. With the help of PDA, these two constituencies can be developed phase wise and with proper planning.”
The govt is contemplating splitting the NGPDA into three PDAs — coastal PDA, Panjim PDA and Greater Panjim PDA, which will include parts of Taleigao and Bambolim.
