PANJIM: Congress Cumbharjua MLA Pandurang Madkaikar continued to show his discontent with the party as he absented himself from the party’s Co-ordination Committee meeting (CCE) and Pradesh Election Committee (PEC) meeting chaired by All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary and Goa desk in-charge Digvijay Singh on Friday.
Madkaikar, who is currently in talks with MGP for a ticket for the 2017 polls, had not attended the CCE and PEC meetings held in September.
Sources confirmed that Madkaikar did not attend the meeting, though as a MLA he is a member of both the committees. “Madkaikar is also election observer for Panjim constituency,” sources said adding that Singh is upset with the MLA as he is not showing party discipline.
Meanwhile, observers of all 40 constituencies submitted a list of probable candidates for the 2017 elections to the PEC, which was placed for discussion during the meeting. “In some constituencies, there is one name recommended while in few there are more than two names. The PEC will scrutinise the same and submit it to the Central Election Committee,” sources said.
The Congress high command has decided that the party will not encourage family raj and those who face criminal cases. Currently the only family in the Congress comprises Leader of the Opposition Pratapsingh Rane and son MLA Vishwajit.
After preparing a charge sheet against the BJP-led State government, Congress is now in the process of drafting a charge sheet against the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP government in Delhi. The decision in this regard was taken by the co-ordination committee.
