PANJIM: RTI activist Sudip Tamankar has threatened to challenge the new Goa Taxi App in Court stating that the government cannot grant provisional licence to the taxi app aggregator by violating the Motor Vehicle Act.
Reacting to the government launching the Goa taxi App last week, Tamankar said that the government cannot issue provisional licence to the aggregator when the State Transport Authority (STA) was yet to finalise the guidelines for Motor Vehicle Aggregators. He said that the STA is still in the process of finalising the guidelines feasible to the State after the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) issued its guidelines in 2020 and asked the States to follow such guidelines.

Before that in 2019 the State government framed guidelines for the aggregators and GoaMiles was granted permission to start its app taxi service as an aggregator. But there were various violations of the guidelines and that was the reason he had to lodge complaints with the Goa Lokayukta.
