PONDA: Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Babu Kavlekar on Friday assured the Sanjivani Sugarcane Farmers’ Association that the government won’t close down the factory.

Deputy Chief Minister and NRI Commissioner Adv Narendra Sawaikar inspected the Sanjivani Sugar Factory along with Sanjivani Sugarcane Farmers’ Association President Rajendra Desai and discussed over the issue.
Later speaking to the stakeholders, the Deputy Chief Minister said, ”The State government would look after the interest of the sugarcane factory workers and farmers. The new Committee under chairmanship of Adv Sawaikar would look after the repairs and revival of the factory.”
He further said that the government will see that the farmers do not suffer losses. They would be paid for their hard work.
“It would take some time to install the new machinery,” he added.
The farmers had to take the decision whether they would keep their sugarcane produce with them or supply to other factories.
He also informed that the government is planning to construct bandaras along the stream flowing in Sanjivani’s land so that it can be used by sugar factory.
