MPDA gets ODP nod

PANJIM: The Town and Country Planning (TCP) Board on Friday approved the draft outline development plan (ODP) for Mormugao Planning and Development Area (MPDA).

The meeting chaired by Deputy Chief Minister and TCP Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar also decided to include additional area of Old Goa under Greater Panjim Planning and Development Authority (GPPDA). 

Speaking to the media persons post meeting, Kavlekar said the Board has approved the draft ODP for MPDA, which will be kept open for public suggestions and comments for a period of 60 days.

He said that anyone having any objection or suggestion can submit it to the department during the 60 days time period. 

Kavlekar further informed that following request from the Old Goa Panchayat, additional area extended till Corlim village boundary, is included under planning area of GPPDA.

He said that the panchayat had moved proposal for the inclusion of additional area, two months back. 

“Currently area upto Kadamba Plateau, living setback of 150 metres on the either side, is under planning area,” he said adding that some private developers had also approached with the request. 

Meanwhile, the Board granted provisional approvals to 35 applications for zone change under Section 16B of TCP Act. Total 46 applications were received.
