MARGAO: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Luizinho Faleiro on Sunday said that Congress president Sonia Gandhi will soon take a call on the resolution adopted by the PCC executive Committee to expel Santa Cruz MLA Babush Monseratte from the party for anti-party activities.
The PCC Chief who has returned to Goa on Saturday after a near week long stay in the national capital said the party high command could not act on the PCC resolution against Monseratte since the correspondence had not reached the party President’s office. “I am expecting a decision from Ms Gandhi in the next few days since AICC general secretary in-charge of Goa desk, Digvijai Singh has forwarded the PCC resolution to the Congress president”, he said.
Replying to a question, Faleiro clarified the PCC resolution only pertains to the expulsion of the Santa Cruz MLA for anti-party activities, adding that the party has not yet taken any resolution on the question of expelling Dabolim MLA Mauvin Godinho from the party. “As far as Mauvin Godinho is concerned, a decision on any action against the Dabolim MLA will have to be taken by the party Executive Committee meeting. So far, no such resolution has been taken till date”, Faleiro said.
GPCC leaders Joe Dias and Menino Da Silva had last month dared Godinho to resign from the party and re-contest the by-election on the BJP. In fact, the duo had told the media that the Party will take a call to expel Godinho from the party for anti-party activities.
