CUNCOLIM: Daulat XI defeated Young Boys of Cuncolim 2-0 to move into the semi-finals of the Cuncolim Super League, all-Goa tournament organised by Rising Stars of Cuncolim, at Cuncolim ground, on Saturday.
Daulat XI fielded a strong team with FC Goa’s new signing Aaren Silva, Lenny Pereira, Velito Cruz and international futsal player Savio Fernandes.
Both teams showing their midfield supremacy restricted to midfield battle. The first half witnessed hardly any action as the teams walked into the breather goalless draw.
The second half saw more intensifying battle as both teams tried to score the much needed breakthrough. However, Aaron scored two goals for Daulat XI.
Earlier, Young Boys of Cuncolim defeated Pink Panthers who were coached by former India skipper Climax Lawrence had few big names in the ranks with Alesh Sawant, Joy Ferrari, Peter Carvalho and Latesh.
While Daulat XI defeated star studded Ritu Boys Calangute in the round of sixteen. Ritu Boys led by big names like Romeo Fernandes, Joaquim Abranches, Terrance Lobo and Gabriel, Seriton, Sameer Naik and Nicolas were held to a 1-1 draw at the end of normal regulation time.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Daulat XI scored 5 while Ritu Boys managed to score only 4 goals.
In another match, SFX Borim defeated MRF siolim 5-4 via the tie-breaker. Mickey Fernandes played brilliantly for MRF Siolim however the match was evenly tied in the normal regulation time as the strikers of either of the teams faltered in the box and couldn’t score.
In the resultant tie-breaker SFX Borim slotted five goals while MRF Siolim could only score four goals.
