VALPOI: Despite heavy rain on Friday in Sattari, Tariwada villagers led a morcha to the Valpoi Water Supply Department because their water taps are running dry for the past eight days.
There are only 20 houses in the village which falls under the Nagargao village Panchayat, Valpoi. Around 30 village women, who belong to the Dhangar Community, were present for morcha.
According to village women, the operator is not doing his duty properly. “He supplies water to the village according to his whims and fancies and not when the villagers need it. So all the women from the village are angry and led a morcha to the Valpoi Water Supply Department. However, the Assistant Engineer was not present in his office. We were told that he is on leave.”
“For the past six months, we are facing water shortage problem in our Tariwada village. Our house taps are running dry since the past eight days. We have complained many times to the water supply operator but he is behaving rudely and not taking any action,” says a village woman.
“If the water shortage problem in Tariwada is not solved in the next two days, then we will come and will hold a sit-in in front of the Water Supply Department Valpoi,” said another woman.
