“The moment the storm started, coal dust started settling on the floor and within few minutes the whole floor was with full of coal dust,” said Omkar Havana, a social activist.
Over the years, Mormugao residents have lodged several complaints against the pollution caused by powdered coal. They claimed that the Goa administration failed to take cognizance of their opposition to the coal transportation at the Mormugao Port Trust, due to which they have to bear the brunt of the pollution.
