QUEPEM: Filu D’Costa was elected as chairperson and Padi Paulo Fernandes as vice chairperson of the Quepem Municipal Council (QMC). The nine other councillors were also sworn into office.
“Quepem municipality needs a lot of development, and from here on, there will be all-inclusive development in the town. I will never betray the trust that Quepem MLA Babu Kavlekar has put in me. The QMC will need lots of funds for development, and with his help, we will lay the foundation for a progressive municipality,” said D’Costa.
Meanwhile, Kavlekar stated, “I have never encouraged the musical chair politics of Quepem municipality. If we want development, the council will have to stay together and fulfil the increased demands of the people.”
Nine councillors took the oath in English, while Dayesh Naik chose Marathi and Deepali Naik chose Konkani.
