A huge part of campus life revolves around the festivals that pit institutions against each other. It is a bonding experience and yet, a time of year when the gloves are off in the battle for academic (and non-academic) pride, where only the winner stands tall.
The ‘Youth For Tomorrow’ Festival 2015, a festival organised by the Adventz Group across 16 prominent schools in Goa, is currently underway, and has witnessed robust participation from Goa’s educational circle. The Intra-School stage of the festival has been completed at eight schools thus far and has taken place across the state over the last few days. The participating schools that have completed the first stage include Fatima Convent High School, Loyola High School, Presentation Convent, St Theresa’s High School, Don Bosco, Sharada Mandir, Mushtifund Saunstha and Our Lady of the Rosary High School.

When asked what the ideation process behind such a large-scale event was, Barun Banerji, the Head of Corporate Communications for the Adventz Group, said, “The ‘Youth For Tomorrow’ Festival was formulated with the sole purpose of inspiring young minds who are the future of Goa and imbuing them with a sense of the exciting opportunities available to them in the fast transforming world of today. This is a perfect opportunity to build their self-confidence, as well as develop effective communication abilities and leadership qualities as a means of creating a better tomorrow.
Speaking on how such events benefit the development of students, Louisa Pereira, Vice Principal of the Navy Children School, says, “The elocution competition has helped students not just to hone their communicative skills, but it also forces them to research and introspect on important issues. Presentation of original compositions or cover songs has also led to the discovery of latent potential and talent.”
The festival, which encompasses two chief categories (elocution and solo singing), has incorporated the theme ‘Envisioning Tomorrow’, and aims to provide a platform to promote the exchange of thoughts, ideas and experiences between students of different schools. The semi-final stage of the festival will be held on November 28, 2015. From there, eight finalists will then make their way to the final round to be held on December 2, 2015 at Kala Academy in Panjim.
This vibrant youth festival will be spread across the months of October and November, comprising participants from senior classes of of sixteen prominent schools in the state. These students will compete for the coveted Adventz Challenge Shield, as well as scholarships and other prizes.
