PANJIM: Pudhari got the better of Electronic Media by four runs to emerge champions in late Vijay Gad Trophy inter-media cricket tournament organized by Sports Journalists Association of Goa at Campal ground, here, Saturday.
Electronic Media won the toss an elected to field. Pudhari scored 117/7 in 15 overs. Vishal Melekar 38, Harshad Sawant 25 and Pankaj Tari 27 top scored for Pudhari. Captain Pravesh Prabhu was the wrecker-in-chief picking up three wickets for 18 runs.
In reply, Felix Dias of Electronic Media scored 58, the highest individual score of the tournament. Despite his knock, the team could only garner 113 runs in 15 overs for the loss of five wickets. Pravesh Prabhu 21 was the other notable contribution. Gaurish Wadkar took two wickets for 32 runs.
Individual prizes – Best batsman: Pankaj Tari (Pudhari). Best bowler: Pravesh Prabhu (Electronic Media). Best fielder: Gaurav Kesarkar (Pudhari). Best wicketkeeper: Vishal melekar (Pudhari). Man-of-the-final match: Felix Dias (Electronic Media). Man-of-the-tournament: Sarvesh Veluskar (Electronic Media).
Vinod Phadke, president of Goa Cricket Association was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. Rajesh Gad was among those present.
Sharad Naik, SJAG president welcomed. Manguesh Borkar, general secretary proposed the vote of thanks.
