The Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) has decided to give safety kits to fish vendors as well as workers who are employed by safety for collecting and segregating garbage.
These safety kits, Panjim Mayor Uday Madkaikar, stated will be handed over to the CCP by the Rotary Club of Panjim.
He added that they will be receive 100 gloves for the CCP workers involved in colleting garbage and 25 aprons for fish vendors involved in cutting of fish at the fish market amongst other items.
“The Rotary Club of Panjim is going to give safety kits after Diwali to all workers who are working in the CCP and those who are cutting fish in the market. The club has shown me the samples of gloves, aprons, and caps, added Madkaikar.
He added that this will not only provide safety but also boost the image of Goa in the eyes of foreign tourists.
“Many fish cutters are not wearing aprons while cutting fish and it looks very bad when foreign tourists visit the fish market. The aprons on fish cutters will look very nice and attractive like how it is in the fish markets of Dubai,” Madkaikar added.
