There is a saying in Konkani “Mog aslear un-voddem ganttar pavta”. This saying was proved by the people of Sri Lanka that there is lot of truth in it. The people of Sri Lanka have confirmed that anything is possible when there is a will and passion. For such were the acts and the impact of coming together for a grater cause. We need to applaud them. The people of the Island with great difficulty overcame all hurdles, barriers, problems and walked even hundreds of kilometres to extend their support for the morcha and protest that was held at Colombo in protest against the Government and the President, in the precinct of the President House and showed that the will of the people is supreme.
The people of Sri Lanka are loveable. They live in peace and share their goodness with a welcoming spirit. I remember while flying to Sri Lanka, for the Canonisation of Blessed Joseph Vaz, when I asked for a selfie with the air-hostess, she stood for a photo with me.

Having experienced the worst in their lives, the people of Sri Lanka did not want to repeat history thus they showed their solidarity and union in communion for a greater mission, for the good of the country. It is not important what those in authority want, but what people need, that the government work for the betterment of the country and in its citizens. They chose peace over war.
The people of Sri Lanka need to be praised and congratulated for this sacrificial act! This sacrificial act was enough to tell those sitting on the pedestal that power belongs to the people.
That what has happened in Sri Lanka is enough for the people of India and especially for the people of Goa who are really proving them to be ‘Sucegad Goykar’. Do we Goans have the strength, the passion, to come together, to go to the residences of the elected representatives(ER) who are up to changing of parties, to protest and show them their place? We remember the parties taking oaths at the shrines, temples and other religious places! Whom are the politicians trying to manipulate, monopolize and are you testing the patience of God? Do the politicians fear God? What are the people really doing?
Is it right for the politicians or elected representative to say that with the consent of the supporters we are changing the party? How many are the supporters? And who are the supporters that really tell the ER to change the party. Is it for the good of the people or to protect themselves to cover their sins of fraudulent misdoings of property and other businesses like mining etc.
The political stability of the governments in our country is unstable though people have voted for change and with the support of regional parties form government. Yet, the restlessness of the ruling party at the centre to de-establish the states government manifests their insecurity. The hidden agenda to pass resolutions with majority votes in the Upper and Lower House keeping in mind the presidential elections of the country.
It is high time that the people of Goa and India draw strength and courage from the people of the island nation and act prudently.
