Goods worth Rs 1.59 lakh stolen

Two more burglaries, including a daring day light theft at Seraulim, was reported in Salcete on Monday.
In a daring burglary, unknown culprits effected entry into the house of Monica Gomes and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs 1 lakh. The culprits effected entry into the house by removing the roof tiles.
The incident occurred when Monica along with her son had gone out to pay admission fee and a bill. That the house was burgled during their absence when her son noticed that miscreant entered inside by removing the roof tiles. The worst fears came true when the complainant found the cupboard ransacked by the culprits before decamping with the gold ornaments, comprising of seven bangles, a necklace and earrings, all worth Rs 1 lakh.
This is the second burglary reported in Seraulim in the last fortnight.
Meanwhile, in another case, unknown culprits effected entry into the house of Caetano Luis at Borda and decamped with a wrist watch, two mobiles, a digital camera and a bag containing property documents. The culprits effected entry into the house by cutting open the toilet grills when the inmates were out.
The value of the stolen goods is put at Rs 1.59 lakh.
