The responsibility of cleaning up Goa will be yours. The people
of Goa will be sentinels. As watchdogs against the piling up of garbage and
litter and also against individuals who litter, we ask you to be vigilant
reporters who can send WhatsApp or text messages and pictures of

2) Of litter strewn on the roads, beaches and other public
places
3) Mounds of garbage piling up
4) Positive pictures of locals, groups, NGOs initiating and
taking part in any clean up campaign
But this doesn’t end here. Herald will filter these pictures,
information, emails and even phone calls and send them to Dristhi Lifesaving
who are currently engaged in cleaning up Goa’s beaches but have taken up the
initiative to respond to people informing them of garbage lying unattended in
various places. After Drishti gets a bank of pictures/ entries, it will depute
teams for North and South Goa to clean the spots identified by you.
The photographs of the location needs to be accompanied by the
Google map pin and name + number.
Once the first set of entries are received, we will announce the
launch of the first clean up campaign after doing a recee of all the spots
identified by you. As a norm, once the campaign kickstarts,the selected spot
would be cleaned within a span of 48-72 hours.
The person who sends in the entry will be informed and if they
should be ideally present on the day of the cleanup. A button badge with the
text “Garbage Sentinel” will be given out to those who report on garbage.
DRISHTI WILL SEGREGATE ALL GARBAGE DURING
THE CLEAN UP. LOCALS ARE URGED TO WITNESS THIS AND SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF
SEGREGATION IN THEIR VILLAGES, COMMUNITIES, LOCAL SCHOOLS ETC.
