“The panchayat members should come out and positively tell people about the ODP and its benefits,” Lobo told reporters. He said the ODP will benefit the locals whose residences have not been regualrised. “The ODP is for the benefit of the people and not my personal benefit,” Lobo added.
Calangute panchayat has opposed the ODP and panchayat members have said the people will decide what the ODP will be.
However, thousands of villagers gathered at the Calangute Association hall to attend a crucial meeting on land use map for Calangute, Candolim and Baga villages.
Lobo said the map will include everything in the ODP and for that people have to give suggestions. “Whatever mistakes are there in the maps will be rectified and for this the NGPDA requires people’s participation,” he said.
