Mapusa ODP is open for comments

PANJIM: The North Goa Planning and Development Authority (NGPDA) has kept the draft Mapusa outline development plan (ODP), which has included the 5.59 lakh sq mtrs of Housing Board colony at Colvale and Central Jail as part of ODP, open for public inspection and suggestion for a period of two months.

In a notification issued on Thursday, NGPDA member secretary RK Pandita said, “Government gave its approval under Section 34 of the Town and Country Planning Act, 1974 for the publication of the notice of preparation of the Draft ODP for Mapusa Planning Area under Section 35 of the said Act.”
The NGPDA appointed sub-committee to draft the ODP made various changes to the old plan after it observed that there were roads and few institutional zones which do not exist on the ground. 
In a bid to offer additional floor area ratio (FAR) for residential and commercial pockets, the Housing Board Colony at Colvale have been included in the ODP.
The draft ODP allows increase in FAR from the existing 80 per cent to 100 per cent for residential pockets and 200 percent for commercial areas in the Housing Board. The NGPDA decision to include the area under ODP will help Housing Board go ahead with its proposal to construct 2000 affordable flats.
