Demolition of building raises eyebrows in Vasco

VASCO: A building in the Mormugao Municipal jurisdiction was demolished without any permission from the municipality or the local administration by the owners of the building. This case has raised eyebrows in Vasco town and has raised questions over the affairs of Municipal administration.
Chief Officer of MMC Agnelo Fernandes confirmed that the Pushpanjali Cooperative Society was demolished reportedly by the owners of the building without clearance from MMC or taluka administration. “I have issued verbal orders to my staff to stop the present work of demolition. I will also soon issue stop work order against this work,” he said.
The chief officer informed that this and several other buildings where sent notices for being in dilapidated condition. “There was application for demolition of this building, but no permission has been granted to any building for demolition,” Fernandes said.
The NGO Goa First while filing a complaint has informed that the building has been demolished by the owners themselves and it is a dangerous act. “We demand strictest action against this act,” said Parshuram Sonurlekar of Goa First.
