MARGAO: Expressing his support to the Save Mhadei movement, tiatrist and Konkani singer Francis de Tuem has released a video song titled ‘Mhadai Avoi Goyenchi’ which has already received nearly 43,000 views on YouTube within three days.
Francis has rendered his voice to the song and has also composed the lyrics while the music is by Normal Cardozo.
Cardozo, Aurvile Rodrigues and Silvia Fernandes have also rendered their voices.
The song was recorded, mixed and mastered at Audio Masters (by Aurvile Rodrigues). The video has been shot and edited by Joywin Fernandes.
Speaking to Herald, Francis said, “The idea behind releasing this song and video was to create mass awareness on this very important issue amongst Goans as ultimately the Mhadei dispute has a huge bearing on the future of the State.”
Francis sang the song at the massive public protest held in Sankhali on the Opinion Poll Day anniversary (June 16 and has urged Goans to wake up and come together to fight the issue.
The video, which has pictures and messages that talk about the developments so far, has the Mhadei river in the background.
Through the song, Francis warns the public about how Goa will suffer if the Mhadei river is diverted, leading to water shortage in the State.
He said this is not a North Goa issue, but for both the districts and recalled how during the successful Opinion Poll movement by Goans, it involved Goans from all parts of the State.
Francis also touched upon how Goans have unitedly fought against other issues like the Regional Plan and won and that the time has come for the locals to rise up and protect their beautiful State and its natural resources.
He urged the locals to remain united, keep the ‘enemies’ away and to not let anyone try to ‘divide and rule them’, but to stay focused on saving Mhadei.
