Statement given by Suleman to the media are unverified: Goa Police

PANJIM:  Notorious criminal Suleman Siddique, involved in defrauding innocent individuals and investors, on Wednesday has made serious allegations on the crime branch police stating that they threatened him at gunpoint and a Police Sub Inspector gave him an electric shock. Responding to this allegation the Goa police issued a press note.

When asked, DGP Alok Kumar appeared to avoid the questions when confronted to media, by stating that Superintendent of Police  North would issue a press note,.

The SP North in a press note stated that the statements given by Suleman to the media are unverified.  Seven cases have been registered under his name. Four cases registered at Mapusa and Old Goa, Anjuna and Vapoi each.

While the Old Goa Police continue to investigate all aspects related to his escape from lawful custody, it must be noted that his previous and ongoing cases are either under investigation or sub judice. Some of his statements may be intended to dissuade witnesses from providing their statements to police or court, the press note said.

The accused’s mobile phone(s) have been seized and sent to the Goa Forensic Science Laboratory for forensic examination. A forensic analysis has been asked of all videos either made, received or sent from his mobile phone. Further, a detailed inquiry report has been asked from SDPO Panjim regarding the conduct of the police personnel who were accompanying Siddiqui to ascertain whether any lapses with regard to set protocol had been committed, the press note stated.
