MARGAO: Navelim SC got the better of Clube Sao Miguel de Taleigao 4-3 to move into the quarter-finals of the CRC Chinchinim Panchayat Cup, at Chinchinim church ground, on Tuesday.
In the first half, Navelim SC were leading 3-1.
Taleigao got off to a perfect start as they surged ahead in the seventh minute through a rasping grounder by Jayant Kunkolikar.
However, Navelim SC regrouped quickly and equalized three minutes later as Avlon Gomes found the target off an assist by Alvito Colaco.
Then onwards, there was no stopping for Navelim SC as they took the lead through Alvito’s deft placement off an assist by Presley.
Navelim SC made it 3-1 as a long ranger by Alvito took the rival custodian by surprise.
Crossing over, Navelim SC scored their fourth goal in the 39th minute through Roshan Pereira’s deft placement off a supply by Stanley Colaco.
Taleigao further reduced the margin through a goal each by strikers Vikram Balekar and Vardhan Haldankar in the final quarter of the proceedings.
